How Do You Choose The Right Clinic?

Probably the most common question, and daunting task in your quest to do surgery in Korea is well, who will have the honor of giving you a new head. With literally dozens of clinics to choose from all along the same street it can get pretty overwhelming.

Reviews from oversea patients will be your best resource. The best English speaking source for this can be found on a sub-forum of Purse Forum. It can be a bit overwhelming at first cause you're literally gonna have to read through hundreds of pages, but it's kinda necessary. There is no easy and quick way to choose a clinic and you shouldn't want it to be that way. A lot of other reviews can be found on various blogs like livelovedream. Be wary of some blog reviews though, especially those from popular Singaporean bloggers like QiuQiu and Tyler Hikaru.

Their procedures are sponsored by the clinic and is not an accurate representation of what happens for everyday customers, especially oversea ones. That doesn't mean you should completely write off the clinic they visited though.

Large clinics like BK, ID, Wonjin, and Grand tend to get negative reviews. A big part of this is because many of them operate like factories. There's also talk of large clinics switching surgeons while you're on the operating table. So, while you think one of the head doctors is working on your face it's actually some random trainee or something. ID tends to get accused of doing this.

Once you find a clinic you like the most important part is next, which Doctor do you go with. As a large clinic Grand has had many botched jobs, a patient even went into a COMA there February of this year. The Doctor that treated her "resigned" immediately and they went overboard with damage control. I would still go to Grand though, why? If  I was guaranteed my surgery was being done by Dr. Sewhan Rhee.

I've read countless reviews by real international and local patients and seen quite a few B&A pictures, I'm a big fan of his work. This just goes to show that at the end of the day the Dr. that performs your surgery is more important than the clinic itself. When you read a negative review from someone always take note who did their surgery, especially if you were once interested in going to that certain clinic. If they didn't mention it then create an account and ask them.

When you decide to travel to Korea for your in-person consultations it's highly recommended that you visit at least two clinics. It never hurts to get a second opinion and your thoughts about a certain clinic + doctor might change once you actually meet him or her in real life. A follow up post with the clinics I've decided to have in-person consultations with will be coming soon.
